“Love is Waiting”

 

Beyond these days of youth and vigor,

Beyond these moments, mistakes and life’s lessons,

Is you, over there, waiting by my heart’s door.

My love, there you wait in pure adoration—

 

Of me. And I, to you I give

A vow of faithfulness; never to leave

You, alone…as long as I live.

A thousand mistakes I’d forgive

 

But that is for tomorrow—

Our future of bliss, neither of perfection nor of sorrow

My first kiss—I’ll save. (for now),

For you, my dear. And let God allow

‘Till our dreams come true

And finally, I’ll be with you

My heart’s beat, and your love too, shall vindicate—

That this destiny fulfilled was worth all the wait.
